CrossFit is defined as “Constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity”, This means that you’ll cover a wide spectrum of movements and skills drawing on everything from olympic lifting, gymnastics, kettlebell training, strongman, power lifting, plyometrics, interval training and endurance training to provide you with the most rounded fitness program. In these classes the speciality is not specialising, by ensuring we cover all bases we work to cut out gaps in peoples fitness. We want you to be as fit, strong, mobile, powerful, explosive, stable, agile, accurate as possible so we will challenge you in all of these areas.
The movements we use are functional movements that means they often replicate movements we do in everyday life. CrossFit is not only about making you good at sport it’s also aimed at making you fit for life! We use movements such as squats, deadlifts, box jumps, burpees, all aimed at utilising your entire body wherever possible, in essence more bang for your buck!
One big difference between your standard gym and CrossFit is the intensity we work at, this isn’t always just the speed at which we do things, it’s also the weight used or the number of repetitions completed. In the Crossfit classes your coach will be able to prescribe you the ideal weight, reps or time frame to help elicit the best level of intensity. The greater the effort and intensity you apply to the workouts the greater the return you will see.
These classes will consist of small groups, no more than 10 athletes to one coach means you’ll get that sense of having a personal trainer without having to pay for it. The classes are just 1 hour long and will cover everything from the warmup, skill and strength pieces as well as the workout or WOD (workout of the day).
Training in a group environment is one of, if not the most effective aspect of CrossFit training, it provides constant motivation. No matter what you might think, everyone has a little bit of competitiveness in them, whether it’s with yourself, your partner, or just the person next to you, and CrossFit has a way of harnessing this to help you get the most out of your training.
The beauty of CrossFit is that it is scalable and that applies to EVERYTHING we do. So no matter what your level of experience or your current fitness level you’ll be able to do it. Whether you’re an elite athlete or a complete beginner will can adjust the movements or intensity to ensure you get the results you are looking for.
