MOBILITY

Mobility sessions will help improve athletic performance, treat body stiffness and achy joints and rehabilitate injuries. We will use a variety of techniques and tools (such as foam rollers, trigger point balls, and bands) to help improve joint range of movement, and muscle integrity.

Chances are you were born with fully functioning joints and perfectly flexible muscles, but over time, with poor movement patterns and real life restraints your joints, and soft tissues adapt and usually not for the better. Look at a toddler playing with their toys, chances are they’re sitting in a perfect squat position with no discomfort, then they go to school, sit at desk for 6-7 hours a day, then they start working and sit in front of a computer for 8 hours a day. As a result certain muscles get short while others become weak from being kept in the same position for such long periods. Stiff ankles, tight muscle around the hips (i.e. hip flexors, adductors), are all going to make it that much harder to get into a good squat position. Mobility drills will work to restore healthy levels of function to allow you more easily perform the movements.

Even if you’re lucky enough not to have a desk job, and you’re already fit and active, chances are you’ve had an injury at some point. Unless rehabbed effectively any injury can result in undesired changes in your biomechanics. Addressing your mobility issues will help prevent any old injuries re-occurring and reduce the chance of any negative knock on effect.

Mobility is going to be your greatest asset to help you improve movement and to reduce the risk of injury. By improving overall movement patterns and allowing yourself to get into good positions you are less likely to put undue stress on the body.
